VAN BUREN COUNTY (WKZO-AM) — A woman from Lawton faces multiple charges, some of them repeat offenses, after she allegedly tried to break into a house, resisted arrest, and led law enforcement on a high speed chase and did it all while high on drugs, according to Van Buren County Sheriff’s deputies.
They say 23-year-old Rachel Fox was already wanted on a bench warrant for failing to appear for a court date on separate charges, when a woman in the 93000 block of Streeter Drive called 911 just before 3 a.m. and complained Fox and a man had broken into her home.
Fox was confronted outside by arriving sheriff’s deputies. They claim she then walked back into the house and out another door, jumped into her car and fled with a deputy in pursuit.
Investigators say she managed to shake the first patrol car, but a second deputy spotted her, and, during the second chase, her car wound up in a ditch. She was then taken into custody.
She is being held for fleeing and eluding, resisting arrest and driving while under the influence of drugs. She could face additional charges.
The man she was with at the victim’s home was not initially charged.
