HOLLAND (WHTC) — Congressman Bill Huizenga announced Friday afternoon that his father, Gerald Huizenga, has died. He was 94.
He was “surrounded by loved ones this morning at the Poppen Hospice Residence of Harbor Hospice in Muskegon,” read a statement from Huizenga’s office.
Gerald Huizenga was “a decorated World War II veteran, an established small business owner, and a leader who served the community he loved for over 30 years as a member of the Zeeland City Council and Ottawa County Commission,” according to Huizenga’s statement, which noted that Congressman Huizenga, his wife Natalie, his mother, Ann, along with the rest of the family “appreciate the love, prayers, and support they have received from the entire West Michigan Community during this difficult time.”
