LANSING, MI (WHTC) – The Michigan Public Service Commission is telling Consumers Energy…”not so fast, not so fast!”
In a Tuesday meeting, commissioners of the state regulatory agency told the Jackson-based utility that it needs more information before deciding whether to approve a proposed May 31st, 2018 termination of Consumers’ power purchase agreement with Entergy ahead of a planned closure of the Palisades nuclear power plant in Covert four months later. This request comes following a state House resolution, spearheaded by outgoing Lawton Republican Aric Nesbitt, asking that the PSC reject Consumers’ request.
The PSC and the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission must both sign off on the proposed termination before Palisades can be closed down.
