HICKORY CORNERS (WKZO-AM) — The Gilmore Car Museum is offering a rare opportunity for the general public to take driving lessons in their fleet of Model-T Fords.
Henry Ford didn’t design the “Tin Lizzies” like the car parked in your driveway.
There are three pedals on the floor and none of them control the gas. Power breaks, power steering, windshield washers — It didn’t have them, either.
There are levers on the steering wheel and a handle next to the seat, and a crank in the front to start it. There was also no gas gage, but it did have a horn.
The Museum in Hickory Corners will be offering 20 classes to anyone who is over 16 years old with a valid driver’s license and $105.
There was a time when you could buy a new Model T for just $260.
You can give them a call or go on their website to sign up, but don’t wait. They say the classes fill up quickly.
Visit the museum’s website or call (269) 671-5089 to reserve your spot.
