KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — The bishop of the Diocese of Kalamazoo will be part of the group greeting Pope Francis when he arrives in Washington D.C. next week as part of a three-city northeast tour.
Paul Bradley said he was selected to be one of the few bishops to welcome the pope to America because of his affiliation with the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops.
“For a particular reason, I guess, that group was selected to be the official delegation to welcome the pope in the name of all of the bishops in the United States,” Bradley told Kalamazoo’s Morning News on Friday. “It’s a great privilage, and I’m looking forward to it.”
Bradley says he won’t be allowed to spend time with the pope, but does say the bishops will be lead in prayer by the world leader of the Catholic Church.
