THREE RIVERS (WKZO-AM) — A historic building in downtown Three Rivers is about to get a makeover.
The Michigan Main Street Center has agreed to provide some design assistance to help the renovation of The Kelsey Block on North Main Street.
Downtown Development Authority Director Brian Persky welcomes the improvements to the three-story, 1850s Victorian Italiante-style building.
“This is one of our key anchors in our downtown area,” Persky said. “It’s a hugely-significant buiding, becuase it the oldest one in downtown Three Rivers.”
Plans currently include masonry, awning and paint work, in addition to some interior remodeling.
There could be a bit of an ulterior motive, however. Persky says the owner is, to an extent, trying to make the building more-enticing to fill a vacant storefront on the street level.
The work should be done by next spring.
