KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — Western Michigan hockey coach Andy Murray says his Broncos are anticipating a difficult season-opening challenge from former Central Collegiate Hockey Assocaition foe Ferris State this weekend.
“They’re very aggressive, they’re very quick, and they’ve been to the national tournament two of the last four years,” Murray said. “So, they’re a very formidable opponent.”
The Bulldogs are tabbed to finish second in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association.
Murray also said his team has been busy over the past week trying to correct the mistakes made in last Saturday’s 4-3 exhibition loss to Lethbridge.
“We liked the play of some of our young denfensemen, but we can do better offensively,” Murray said. “We had a number of chances to finish. We can do better in that area.”
Games at Lawson Arena on Friday and in Big Rapids on Saturday are scheduled to start at 7 p.m.
