LANSING, MI (WHTC) – The Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration has launched a Local Emphasis Program aimed at reducing injuries and illnesses among siding contractors, structural steel workers, and pre-cast concrete construction employees. The program was developed in response to a state Bureau of Labor Statistics analysis of 2013 national numbers of non-fatal incidents that showed a significant rise in injury and illness rates among these sectors. Over the next year, MIOSHA plans to inspect more than 50 siding, structural steel and pre-case concrete contractors on various sized jobsites.
