PAW PAW (WKZO-AM) — Van Buren County Sheriff’s investigators say they’re seeking charges against the parents of a Paw Paw infant who tested positive for methamphetamine.
Sheriff’s deputies did not find the two-day-old child when they arrived at the home of the 35-year-old man and 25-year-old woman in the 51000 block of 35 1/2 Street Tuesday evening — the baby was apparently in the care of another adult at the time. However, they did find evidence that the drug was being manufactured there.
Deputies returned with a search warrant at around 11 p.m. and found six one-pot methamphetamine labs, two jars of methamphetamine oil, marijuana and other drug-making ingredients, some stowed away in a washer.
Neither parent has been arrested as of yet.
Child Protective Service officers say they’re keeping an eye on the baby’s condition.
