KALAMAZOO (WKZO) — A Kalamazoo Teen will be spending this Memorial Day in jail and if he is prosecuted, he may be spending many more in a cell after a purse snatching in the 800 block of N. Westnedge Avenue early Saturday morning turned into something more serious.
Armed with a description of the suspect, K-9 officer Bodi led officers from the scene of the crime straight to the 18-year-old in the 13000 block of N. Church Street.
As officers tried to make the arrest, the suspect struggled and a loaded .45-caliber handgun fell out of his pants.
A check on the serial number on the gun showed it had been stolen in Kentwood.
He is being held in the Kalamazoo County Jail, charged with unarmed robbery, resisting arrest, carrying a concealed weapon and possession of a stolen firearm, pending arraignment.
