KALAMAZOO (WKZO) — Three people caught with drugs in stolen vehicles are sitting in the Kalamazoo County Jail this weekend, waiting for arraignments on a variety of car theft and drug charges, and others are being sought.
Two officers who had just done the paperwork on a stolen Jeep Grand Cherokee, spotted the vehicle in the 11-hundred block of James St. with four occupants on board at about 7 p.m.
The occupants abandoned the vehicle soon after they realized they had been spotted, running off in all directions.
The officers were able to capture the driver and the front-seat passenger. They found what they beleive to be meth and marijuana in the Jeep.
The driver is being held on a number of charges and the front seat passenger was arrested on a parole hold.
The two other passengers remain at large.
About 5 hours later Friday night, another officer spots a Kia Sportage that had been stolen in Portage, rolling down Crosstown Parkway, near Public Safety Headquarters.
The female driver was stopped and a search of the car turned up heroin, cocaine and an open container of alcohol.
She faces a variety of drug possession, theft and drunk driving violations.
Both of the drivers arrested in the two seoarate cases had suspended licenses.
