LANSING (WKZO) — With just over a month before the election, a new MIRS News/Target Insyght poll showed 55 percent of 700 respondents would vote no on the May 5th Proposal 1 question on the statewide ballot.
That’s bad news, but it gets worse for backers of the plan.
Surveyors add that, when the entire ballot language was read to those respondents this past Tuesday and Wednesday,
the number opposed rose to 65 percent. This comes as 72 percent had seen or heard ads promoting the proposal. A year ago, a similar survey about a one-percent hike in the state sales tax for roads had similar negative results.
