LANSING (WKZO) — Michigan’s unadjusted unemployment rate for February is as low as it has been since the beginning of the Michigan recession in 2001, the downturn that preceded the Great Recession.
It fell to 5.9% in February, down from 6.3% the month before.
But it does not mean that Michigan has fully recovered.
5.9% is still above the national unemployment rate, and Michigan had 300-thousand more jobs in 2001 than it does now.
