KALAMAZOO (WKZO)– Prosecutors may put the credibility of Brian Roberts on trial as he faces First Degree Felony Murder charges for the death of his two year old son, Nehemia Dodd.
Roberts, who has an extensive criminal record, was only caring for his two young sons because their mother. Angelene Dodd had been arrested in a stolen car high on crack, and lost custody.
The Prosecutor argued in opening statements that Roberts has told several different accounts of how the young boy suffered the critical head injuries that led to his death, and said the defense will no doubt have another version ready for the jury.
They did, and presented it in the defense’s opening argument
Roberts had accepted a plea deal, but the Judge tossed it out because it did not reflect the serious nature of the crime.
Roberts is taking his chances with a jury. Testimony continues today.
