KALAMAZOO (WKZO) – Today it was announced that Ministry with Community will be seeking community support to complete fundraising for a brand new facility for the organization.
The new home on North Ransom would double their capacity to provide the unique daytime services that they now provide to help the homeless get back on their feet.
Director Rob Oakleaf says their current facility is stretched beyond capacity. It has been adapted from other uses and lacks many resources.
Building their own facilities will allow them to provide the dining, classroom and other facilities their organization needs.
This morning they announced that the capital campaign had already raised 4.2-million dollars, and had been given an additional million dollar challenge grant by Bill and Julia Van Domelen to help them raise the remaining money they will need.
The goal is $6-million dollars to cover the cost of construction and to provide a trust fund for maintenance.
Every dollar donated by the public will be matched by the Van Domelen Challenge.
Donors can contribute at ministrywithcommunity.org, or by mail at 440 N.Church, Kalamazoo, MI 49007 or by stopping by their current facility.
They hope to break ground later this year and move in sometime next year.
