KALAMAZOO (WKZO) — The man arrested in a bizarre product tampering case has been given 15-months in jail and ordered to pay 14-thousand dollars in restitution to Meijer.
FBI investigators say Brian Conover of Richland wasn’t out to hurt anyone last summer when he began buying bottles of vitamins, replacing them with everything from chocolate chips, to cat food to heart medicine.
He wanted the vitamins but he couldn’t afford them.
He would return the altered bottles for a refund and Meijer would restock them.
He repeated the crime at 6 meijer stores in Kalamazoo, galesburg and richland’ e area. In all 19-bottles were altered.
