KEELER TOWNSHIP (WKZO) — We don’t know the connection between Kayla Eilene Sartin and burglary suspect Jason Pasley, but she was apparently willing to risk jail to keep him from being arrested.
That is why she has now been charged with harboring a fugitive. Her home in Keeler Township was where investigators say Pasley fled to hide out after he was named in warrants charging him with burglary and drug crimes.
Van Buren County Deputies got a tip late last month that he was there and staked the home out.
After deputies spotted him leave and reenter the home, they confronted 33-year-old Sartin at her front door, warning her that harboring a fugitive was a crime.
She denied he was there initially, eventually admitting he was there but refusing entry to the deputies.
He eventually surrendered.
She was arrested over the weekend for harboring a fugitive and will also be required to deal with an outstanding warrant for driving on a suspended license, second offense.
