HOLLAND TOWNSHIP (WKZO) — There could be some very serious sanctions taken against a group of juveniles, or their parents after the children called in a false bomb threat to the Wal-Mart in Ottawa County at about 9:30 Saturday night.
The caller claimed they had a bomb strapped to their chest and they were going to blow the place up.
The store on North Park Drive in Holland Township was evacuated, and bomb sniffing State Police K9’s were deployed. .
Investigators were able to trace the call to a home in Holland where the juveniles were found and confessed.
Such calls used to be considered pranks, but since 9-1-1, a number of new anti-terrorism laws have been adopted and are more likely to be enforced.
Some courts will seek reimbursement for the cost of the police and fire response and there is always the possibility of civil action.
