ANN ARBOR (WKZO)– It seemed like a miracle product, a sure money-maker when it was first introduced, Kool-aid for adults. Palcohol a powdered alcohol product that could turn 6 ounces of water into a cocktail.
It still hasn’t gone on sale but alot of people have formed a negative opinion.
Reseachers at C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital in Ann Arbor did a national poll to let lawmakers know what the public thinks of powdered alcohol and its not good. Dr. Matthew Davis says 60% would ban it outright in their state.
Nearly 85% would like to see online sales banned as well as online advertising for the product.
One big concern is that the product makes abuse of alcohol so much easier especially for juveniles.
A ban has already been approved by the Michigan Senate 37 to 0 and will be taken up by a House Committee this week.
Some say they can ban it but that won’t stop it.
Lawmakers seem convinced it will at least slow it down.
