EGLIN A.F.B., FLORIDA (WKZO) — The Military has issued a report that blames pilot error for a helicopter crash during a training mission that killed 7 Marines, three of them from Michigan, and four Louisiana National Guardsmen.
Col. Pete Schneider, with the Louisiana National Guard says these were not “Weekend Warriors” but trained professionals with quite a bit of experience, and combat tested after tours in the Middle East.
Another controversy has surfaced because while Staff Sgt. Andrew Seif of Holland was accepted for burial with full honors at Arlington National Cemetery, Staff Sgt.Thomas Frolich, who was on the helicopter crew was not, his father telling CNN that they were told it was because it was a training mission and not active duty.
Arlington did offer to accept his cremated remains for placement in a wall of Honor, but they are restricting burials because they are running out of room.
