Detroit, MI (WKZO) — Tigers sent Justin Verlander out on the hill verses Toronto in the 3rd and final game of the series in front of 35,102 in attendance to get the sweep, but an explosive 5th inning hitting performance by the Blue Jays.
Led by Toronto’s (2B) Devon Travis RBI single and a pair of home runs from Jose Bautista (2 run shot) and a solo shot from (1B) Justin Smoak ,Toronto engineered 6 runs to take a 6-2 lead and went on to beat Detroit 10-5.
Blue Jays Devon Travis went 2-for-3 with 3 RBI’s, Toronto’s Marco Estrada gets the win improving his record to 6-4 on the season going 5 innings allowing 2 runs striking out 3 Tigers.
Relief Pitcher Roberto Osuna earns the save his first while Detroit’s starter Justin Verlander gets the loss dropping his record to 0-2 on the season.
Detroit will now begin a seven game road trip until the Allstar break beginning in Seattle on Monday @ 9:45 PM PST on AM 590 WKZO
