DETROIT (WKZO) — Saturday is the deadline to file claims with the General Motors victim compensation fund. That’s the last day the fund’s administrators will accept claims of death or injury resulting from faulty ignition switches.
As of a week ago, the fund had received more than three-thousand claims with 50-death claims approved. GM recalled 2.6-million vehicles as a result of the ignition switch problem.
There is a federal investigation going on to determine whether there was criminal conduct in the handling of the problem including delaying the recall.
