WASHINGTON D.C. (WKZO) –Michigan’s new senator has suffered his first legislative defeat.
Saying he would hate to see a repeat of the Enbridge oil spill happen elsewhere in the state or the nation, Senator Gary Peters tried to tack an amendment on the Keystone Pipeline bill calling for better pipeline safety.
It was rejected by the Republican majority.
Many democrats and republicans in Michigan are worried about an Enbridge owned pipeline that runs under the Straights of Mackinac.
Peters says he may reintroduce the bills as free standing legislation.
