KALAMAZOO (WKZO) — WMU’s Faculty union, the AAUP will hold a special meeting Friday to discuss differences with University Provost Tim Greene and will decide whether or not to take a vote of no-confidence in his leadership.
They list the failure to reappoint Dean Alex Enyedi, a lack of respect and transparency, failure to properly handle gender equity cases and communicate with faculty members as reasons for their disenchantment with The Provost.
The AAUP voted a year and a half ago to censure Greene over the gender-pay issue. They say a vote of no-confidence is a stronger expression of their disapproval.
The Provost serves at the pleasure of the President and a union vote is largely symbolic, but the last WMU Provost to earn a vote of no-confidence resigned the next day.
