YPSILANTI (WKZO) — Eastern Michigan University is mourning the death of two students who were killed in a car accident in Ypsilanti Township on Sunday. One of the students is 21-year-old Shannise Heady of Hazel Crest, Illinois, who was a junior forward on the Eagles’ women’s basketball team. Twenty-three-year-old Jordan Hopkins of Dexter was also killed.
According to the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Department, Heady crossed the center line on Hewitt Road near Michigan Avenue around 1 a.m. and hit another vehicle head-on. The driver of the other vehicle suffered non-life threatening injuries.
