LANSING (WKZO) — A religious freedom bill that made it through the House last year but didn’t get to the governor’s desk is back this year. The Religious Freedom Restoration Act was introduced in the Senate earlier this week and sent to the Judiciary Committee.
MLive.com reports it would allow individuals or businesses to seek exemptions to government regulations if they feel there is a conflict with their religious beliefs. Opponents of the bill have said it’s a license to discriminate against gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender individuals.
