LANSING (WKZO) — Warm weather, lower unemployment and sharply lower gasoline prices are all being credited with boosting December and holiday retail sales in Michigan.
According to the Michigan Retailers Association, more than half of the retailers reported holiday sales above year-ago levels, and 32-percent recorded sales increases of more than five-percent. MRA president and CEO James Hallan notes December was the strongest month for sales since July, but the sales figures were slightly below expectations.
