BURLINGTON TOWNSHIP (WKZO) –Lorinda Swain will remain out of prison and on a tether while her attorneys at the University of Michigan Innocence Clinic pursue her appeal with the State Supreme Court.
Twice Calhoun County Judge Conrad Sindt has ordered new trials and twice the court of Appeals has reversed the orders.
The prosecution asked to have her bond revoked and Swain sent back to prison, based on the latest appellate court reversal. Judge Sindt continued her bond while Swain and her Attorney, Caitlan Plummer take their case to the State Supreme Court.
Swain was convicted of molesting her adopted son, largely on the testimony of that teen, who has since recanted his story.
They must first convince the Supreme Court to hear her case, which is not easy, and then convince them she is innocent.
