BATTLE CREEK (WKZO) — The Secretary of State says the Battle Creek woman who crashed into an ambulance early Tuesday, had just gotten her license back this week, after it had been suspended in 2009.
The ambulance was rushing a man in cardiac distress to the Bronson Battle Creek.
They believe 61-year-old Shirley Stokes was drunk when she shot through the red blinking light at North Ave. and Garfield, colliding with the ambulance.
Stokes and her husband James Stokes were dead at the scene.
74-year-old Heart attack victim David Simpson was pronounced dead after he finally made it to the hospital.
Two EMT’s suffered minor injuries. The investigation continues.
