LANSING, MI (WHTC) – Former state lawmaker Joe Haveman of Holland testified before the House Criminal Justice Committee on two reintroduced bills that he had championed before he was term-limited out of office at the end of last year. The legislation would allow more prisoners to get parole upon completing their minimum sentences, send more parole violators to jails instead of prison and change the state’s system for punishing parole and probation violators. Haveman is now affiliated with Hope Network.
