BITTERSWEET SKI RESORT (WKZO)–12-year-old Samuel Root of Lafayette, Indiana was critically injured but is recovering after his scarf got caught in a tow rope at Bittersweet Ski Resort Saturday.
The youngster, on a Boy Scout outing, was dragged along and then lifted off the ground by the neck.
His aunt, Heather Crum tells WLFI that it took five minutes to get his heart going again. He was taken to Bronson’s Pediatric Intensive Care unit in Kalamazoo in a coma.
He suddenly awoke on Sunday and started talking. He could be discharged as soon as today, but still faces a long recovery.
Bittersweet officials are not commenting.
It was Samuel’s first time skiing.
