GRAND RAPIDS (WKZO) — A former Allegan County mailman has been charged with tossing 412 pieces of mail that he was supposed to deliver.
James T. Harris had apparently just quit, but still had mail left over and decided it was no longer his responsibility so he chucked it into a trash bin at a gas station instead.
Court documents show it happened over a year ago in December of 2013. He has been formally charged with desertion of mails, a misdemeanor.
They say it was still his responsibility to return the mail to the Postal Department or some representative of the department.
