CHICAGO (WHTC) – The US Department of Housing and Urban Development awarded over 3.2 million dollars to the Michigan Department of Community Health for reducing the number of lead-poisoned children in the state, as well as protecting more than 300 families living in dwellings with significant lead and/or other home health and safety hazards. Most of the funds will be directed toward agencies and groups that deal with aging housing units in the metro Detroit area.
