MUTIANYU, CHINA (WKZO) — Governor Snyder is in China for his fifth trade mission in that country.
He arrived just as the Chinese economy is falling dramatically, rattling stock markets around the world.
Snyder is there hoping to talk them into building in Michigan, but the timing could probably have been better. Maybe he can give them some tips on how to survive a recession.
At one point the Dow Jones was down over a thousand points but it has since rebounded. The Chinese stock market lost 8% of its value in the last day.
Because offices aren’t open in China on Sunday either, the Governor spent part of the day visiting a section of the Great Wall of China.
Part of his mission will be to promote tourism between the two countries.
He is expected to spend 8 days in China and return to the U.S. on Saturday.
