Goalie Petr Mrazek made 28 saves to get the shutout for Detroit.
Riley Sheahan, Drew Miller, Pavel Datsyuk and former WMU Bronco Danny DeKeyser provided the scoring for the Red Wings, who now lead the best-of-seven West quarterfinal, 3-2.
The Red Wings can clinch at home on Monday in Game Six.
Ben Bishop made 26 saves in the loss. Tampa took half of its 28 shots on goal in the final period.
