CASS COUNTY (WKZO) — A stranded boater who found himself washed up on shore on Diamond Island near Cassopolis after the motor on his pontoon boat conked out, may not have wanted to be found. He was missing for nearly a week.
46-year-old Kurt DeYoung, has now been charged with two counts each of Larceny and Breaking and Entering.
Police say he broke into two homes, slept where he wanted to, raided the liquor cabinets and even borrowed some underwear.
They searched the island but he was not found. He was spotted 6 days after his disappearance by crews searching the lake.
He was incoherent when they found him, not because he hadn’t eaten in days but because he spent most of the time drinking.
He was ordered held on 50-thousand dollars bond.
