WAYLAND, MI (WHTC) – Wayland-based Windemuller has landed a $6.3 million contract with the US Army Corps of Engineers to upgrade the entire instrumentation and control system for the MacArthur Lock in the Soo Locks that separate the two Sault Ste Maries. The two-year deal will replace the current electrical system and install a “homeland security-grade” camera setup on the 800-foot long, 80-foot wide, southernmost lock.
The project should be completed before the end of the 2016 shipping season.
