WASHINGTON D.C. (WKZO) — Its tax day and if you still haven’t done your taxes you must really like to live dangerously. Either that or you owe a lot.
IRS Spokesman Luis Garcia says last minute filers are prone to make mistakes, but you can greatly reduce the chance of making those errors if you file electronically.
The most often committed mistakes are transposing numbers, poor math and forgetting to sign your form.
He says in fact only about one in ten still fill out the forms and mail them the old school way…and it’s just as well, because they are 20 times more likely to make a mistake.
He says if you can’t file your forms, at least file for an extension, it will buy time until you can get your act together.
