PORTAGE (WKZO) — A fire is under investigation in Portage.
Firefighters say by the time they had gotten on the scene on Valley Circle Drive about 4 a.m. Friday, an alert neighbor had already awakened the homeowners telling them to escape.
The neighbor also emptied two fire extinguishers on the blaze, that began in a water heater alcove accessed from the outside of the building before the first responders arrived.
They finished off the fire.
They credit the man with saving the lives of the two occupants and preventing further damage to the mobile home.
