KALAMAZOO (WKZO) — Kalamazoo College President Eileen Wilson-Oyelaran announced this afternoon that she will be retiring, but not for over a year, giving the board of the Private Liberal-Arts school plenty of time to find a replacement.
She says her plans after leaving “K” are to have as few plans as possible.
She says she will move back to North Carolina with her husband and four children and spend time with them, traveling and enjoying life.
She came in with a ten year strategic plan to introduce a more diverse student population, expand the K-Plan and to grow the endowment fund. She has accomplished all of those goals.
Much of the money will make it possible to underwrite scholarships to allow for a more diverse student population.
Board President Charlotte Hall says they have already begun the search process, hiring an executive search firm.
The President’s last official day on the job will be June 30th, 2016.
