WASHINGTON (WKZO) -- Detroit Tigers pitcher Justin Verlander and girlfriend Kate Upton, who was born and raised in St. Joseph, are among the celebrities that have been victimized by an internet hacker and had their private photos downloaded from the cloud and posted online.
The hacker allegedly got into Apples' iCloud service and released the photos of a number of celebrities including Oscar winner Jennifer Lawrence, Hilary Duff, Selena Gomez, Rihanna, and about 100 others.
The experts say the only way to beat it is to never let the private material get to the cloud in the first place.
That’s especially true for celebrities.
Some of the celebrity victims have gone on Twitter to express their outrage at the invasion of their privacy. Some claim the photos are fake. Some have said nothing.
The FBI and Apple are both investigating, trying to track down the hacker before he releases other photos and videos.
There has been no reaction from Justin Verlander on his twitter site.
