DETROIT (WKZO) -- Cleveland Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert is calling out the Pistons for not really being from Detroit.
The Quicken Loans founder and Detroit-area billionaire said the team should remove "Detroit" from their name during an interview Monday. The team plays home games in the Oakland County suburb of Auburn Hills, roughly 30 miles north of downtown Detroit.
Pistons executive and head coach Stan Van Gundy called Gilbert's comments selfish. He was eluding to the fact Gilbert has invested millions of dollars into the downtown area and would benefit if the Pistons moved there.
