Detroit, MI (WKZO) – Nick Martinez picked up his first career win as the Texas Rangers rolled the Tigers 12-2 on Saturday afternoon at Comerica Park.
Martinez allowed just one earned run on eight hits over 5.2 innings and struck out two while issuing just a single walk.
The Rangers tagged Tigers’ starter Rick Porcello for eight earned runs on 12 hits in just 5.1 innings. Porcello’s ERA jumped from 2.91 to 3.88 from just today’s outing and lost his first game since April 11th.
Adrian Beltre and David Murphy each hit home runs for the Rangers who scored four in the fourth, one in the fifth, three in the sixth and three in the seventh.
Victor Martinez and Ian Kinsler each had three hits for the Tigers.
The Tigers look to even the four-game series with the Rangers on Sunday afternoon. Justin Verlander takes the hill for Detroit against Colby Lewis. First pitch is set for 1:08pm.
