DETROIT (WKZO) -- U.S. Congressman John Conyers is spending his 85th birthday fighting for his professional life. Conyers has filed suit challenging the constitutionality of a law that has resulted in a legal decision that keeps his name off of the August 5th primary ballot.
The Wayne County Clerk determined that Conyers didn't have enough valid petition signatures to get his name on the ballot because several of the petition circulators are not registered voters. Conyers, the nation's second longest serving Congressman, argues the signatures should not have been tossed out.
