COMSTOCK (WKZO) -- Comstock High School is celebrating a new achievement. A virtual company run by a team of budding entrepreneurs from the school outperformed seven competitors from the United States and Canada to win the 2014 Junior Achievement Titan Challenge this month.
Members of the HashTagSwag team were tasked with creating and marketing a fictitious product called a Holo-Generator, an all-purpose electronic device, as part of the competition. With guidance from volunteers, the team made daily decisions on capital investment, pricing, production, marketing, research and development, and charitable giving.
This month, the Comstock team won the 2014 Junior Achievement Titan Challenge. Previously, the team won a regional competition held at Western Michigan University in December. In early May, HashTagSwag competed in the semifinal round, earning one of eight spots in the finals from among 53 competitors in North America. Now, it's the champion.
