KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- News came this week that auto dealer Bill Wright's Wright for Kids charity will be donating 315 thousand dollars to the Community Advocacy Center in Kalamazoo, and the organization's planning big things with it. Sally Reames is Executive Director of the Community Healing Center, a group that provides help to abused and neglected children, among other thngs. She says that the donation from Wright will enable the organization to renovate its Stadium Drive facility.
"200 thousand dollars of that gift will go to renovate the Children's Advocacy Center wing, and that will be forever tied to Bill's legacy with his name," Reames told WKZO. "The remainder of the funds are going directly to support activities and programs at our agency, Community Healing Centers, where the work of prevention and treating kids who suffer from abuse and neglect happens."
Now the Community Advocacy Center will be called the Bill Wright Children's Advocacy Center. The news came just as the the Community Healing Center's 2014 roof sit fundraiser began this week. Work on the renovations should start this summer and finish in the fall with a celebration.
