LAKETOWN TOWNSHIP (WKZO) -- The Allegan County Sheriffs Department says that a suspect was arrested Tuesday night after a chase with deputies. The 39 year old Holland man was spotted around six PM speeding southbound on 60th Street near 138th Avenue in Laketown Township.
A sheriffs deputy who saw that the vehicle was over the speed limited tried to pull it over, but the driver sped up and attempted to flee. The suspect went to make a turn off of 60th Street on to 138th Avenue, but was going too fast and crashed into a ditch. Then, the driver and his passenger got out and tried to climb out of the ditch, but the sheriffs deputy ordered them to the ground and placed them under arrest. He also noticed the driver throw away some items as he got out of the car, and was able to collect them.
The driver of the vehicle now faces several charges, including fleeing and eluding, drunk driving, and possession of meth components. The passenger, who's also from Holland, is facing drug charges, as well.
