WASHINGTON D.C. (WTVB) - The pressure is mounting on the head of the Veterans Administration to step down. Two Republican senators, Jerry Moran of Kansas and John Cornyn of Texas called for Veterans Affairs Secretary Eric Shinseki to resign over a string of recent scandals involving the treatment of veterans. On Monday, the American Legion demanded Shinseki's resignation along with other top VA officials.
The latest scandal involves VA officials at a Phoenix hospital being accused of keeping a secret list of patients waiting for procedures to hide delays. Up to 40 patients allegedly may have died as a result of the delays.
