KANSAS CITY (WKZO) -- The Tigers have won another lopsided victory in Kansas City, beating the royals 9 to 2 behind a strong pitching performance by Drew Smyly and plenty of offense.
Smyly issued just two walks and fanned six in his second start of the season. "Everything was working; I was throwing strikes with all my pitches. I just tried to get ahead and keep them off-balanced," Smyly said.
Torii Hunter hit a three-run homer, Nick Castellanos drove in three and Danny Worth, Ian Kinsler and Miguel Cabrera added one RBI apiece for the Tigers.
Detroit has now won four straight and six of their last seven games.
They will wrap up the 3-game weekend series at Kaufman Stadium with a 2:10 start this afternoon.
