LAWRENCE (WKZO) -- Van Buren County deputies have charged a 48-year-old man from the Decatur area with multiple counts after he led them on a dangerous high speed chase.
Deputy Adam Bielang spotted his motorcycle speeding on a residential street in Lawrence last Wednesday afternoon.
Deputies say he refused to stop, achieving speeds of 100 mph several times during the chase as the motorcyclist fled eastbound on Red Arrow Highway, and then onto Territorial Road, where he tried to cut across a yard, lost control on the grass and fell off the bike.
He tried to climb back on it and get back to the road but the bike stalled and he was arrested.
Ronald Bruce Moffitt is charged with attempted fleeing and eluding, and driving on a suspended license on a vehicle with no registration or insurance.
Bond was set at $10,000.
